PETREASE (MUMSY) KOWALSKI (nee GRZENDA) Suddenly on Thursday, April 13, 2006, at St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg, MB, Petrease Kowalski passed away at the age of 67 years. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Vicki (Doug) Hutsel, Frank (Virginia) Kowalski and Fran (Kerry) Mickey; three grandchildren, Chloe Kowalski, Ian and Tyson Mickey; her brothers, Ed (Lorna) Grzenda and family, and Frank (Elizabeth) Grzenda and family. Also her grand pets, Pebbles, Ginger and Babe. She is survived by best friend Joanne Yager and old school friend and cousin Eileen Kauffeldt along with many other close friends and relatives. Petrease was born in Silver, MB on June 29, 1938. She attended Hastings School in Silver and later worked in a small bakery in Arborg. She married Michael Kowalski on August 31, 1957 in Arborg. She also worked in Flin Flon, MB at a store called Johnny's. Later she moved to Winnipeg with her husband to raise their family where she became a homemaker, mother and Baba. Mumsy was active in bowling twice a week, shopping, gardening and crocheting. She greatly enjoyed family gatherings and especially time spent with her grandchildren. Petrease was predeceased by her husband Michael in 1998; her parents, Andrew and Pauline Grzenda, Frank and Polly Kowalski and grandson James Mickey. The family would like to express their special thanks to the following people who took extremely good care of our Mother Petrease, Dr. Ralph Wong and Kathy Kyryluk of CancerCare Manitoba, along with Dr. Brundt, Dr. Thille and staff on B4 Ward at St. Boniface General Hospital. Prayers will be said at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church, in Arborg, MB. Fr. Maurice Comeault will officiate with interment to follow in Sky Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6 or other charities of one's choice.
