GRACE ADA YOUNG (published on April 17, 2006)



GRACE ADA YOUNG On Wednesday, April 12, 2006, Grace Ada Young passed way in her 92nd year at Central Park Lodge, Poseidon Care Centre. She was predeceased by; her husband Irving and her parents Arthur Willard and Grace McGie. Grace is survived by; her children Roger, Jane (Doug) Finnie and Grant; grandchildren Geoffrey (Mya), Kristine, Paul (Erin), Monique (Jason), Janette (Craig), Matt and his fiancé Carolyn and Erin; great grandchildren Emma, Connor, Devin, DeAngelo, Ethan, and Isaac; and cousin Irene Graham. Grace was born in Winnipeg and met Irving at Daniel McIntyre High School. They married and raised their family in Winnipeg. She worked briefly at Eaton's but devoted most of her life to her family. During their 64 years together, Grace and Irving enjoyed the cottage at Matlock, which was built for her by her father, and trips to Las Vegas and Hawaii. Grace had an appreciation for music and loved playing the piano for her family, especially her grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with viewing half hour prior. Interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. West. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire donations may be sent to Poseidon Care Centre, Palliative Care Team, 70 Poseidon Bay, Winnipeg, MB, R3M 3E5. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Poseidon Care Centre for their kindness and care, especially Helen and Paula.
