VALA OLAFSON (nee KLEIN) On Sunday November 4, 2007 Vala passed away peacefully at the Gimli Health Centre. Vala was predeceased by her parents Fred and Helga Klein and her brother Konrad. Vala will be terribly missed with many cherished memories by her loving husband Kari; her brother Alfred (Shirley); children, Connie (Tony), Glenn (Natalie), Joan (Mel); grandchildren, Angel (Donald), Alicia, Amanda, Jason, Jared, Amber; and great-granddaughter Rayne. Vala will also be missed by numerous nephews, nieces, in-laws and friends. Vala loved every one of them; her charming nature and warm hospitality affected all who knew her. Vala was born on March 1, 1927 to Fred and Helga Klein she married Kari (son of Oli and Tubba Olafson) in Winnipeg on September 7, 1946. Vala grew up in Lonely Lake, went to school in Ste. Rose, and later taught school in Larkspur. Vala and Kari lived in Chatfield, Winnipeg, and Gimli. They made many friends over the years; she especially cherished the great friendship that was had with Helen and Joe Leduchowski family. The family wishes to thank the caring and wonderful medical and hospital staff at Gimli Health Centre, the Home care Staff, the Palliative care volunteers and many others for their tender and affectionate, fellowship, understanding and support through difficult times. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday November 9, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Honorary pallbearers are Gordon Leduchowski, Vernon Klein, Dale Klein, Blair Olafson, Bruce Labossiere, and Rodney Olafson. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Vala's name may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
