ERNEST ALBERT MADDAFORD (published on December 02, 2007)

ERNEST ALBERT MADDAFORD June 6, 1936 - November 30, 2007 Ernest passed away at home with his wife Helen of by his side. He was predeceased by his mother Daisy and his father Francis; brother Gordon and baby sister Katharine-Margaret. In loving memory, he leaves behind his son Thane and Shawn; daughters, Colleen and Heather and respectively spouses Colleen, Caroline, Danny and Murray. Ernest had nine loving grandchildren, Michael, Jared, Erin, Brenden, Kelsey, Shannon, Shane and Derek. Ernest grew up in East Kildonan and went to school at Prince Edward School and graduated at Miles Macdonell School in 1954. At the age of 17, Ernest entered the naval reserves (HMCS Chippawa) and sung in a barber shop quartet in 1955. He was a champion bowler and was smooth on his feet. At the age of 20 he met his wife Helen and wed September 2, 1960. Ernest worked as a tin smith at CNR in Transcona and retired in 1991 after 35 years. Ernest served in the Royal Canadian Legion as President, Vice President and Secretary Treasurer, also was a member of Hazelridge Curling Club and the St. Jo's Wildlife Association. Ernest loved woodworking, the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and golfing with family and friends and especially a cool beer on a hot afternoon. Viewing will be held on Monday, December 3 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., and a memorial service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., on Wednesday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations for the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be accepted. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Lawn Funeral Home 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. 982-7550
