MARY SZYJKA (published on December 04, 2007)

MARY SZYJKA Peacefully, God took Baba home on November 30, 2007 at the age of 84 years. Mary leaves to mourn her daughter Darlene (Glenn) Jorundson; grandsons, Jonathan and Kyle; family of in-laws and her sister Sophie Kulyk and family in England and Ukraine. She was predeceased by her husband Peter. Our Baba was someone that captured many peoples' hearts. From her stories of childhood in the Ukraine, to young adulthood in Germany to her life in Canada, we saw that Baba had her struggles. Yet the character she reflected to us was a gift from God. Whether it was her feistiness, determination, strength, honesty, generosity or loving character, Baba left an impression with those who knew her. The greatest gift she left us all was the truth that with faith, hope and love, God is always with us through life's struggles. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Babick and the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for their love and care. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, December 6 at 9:00 a.m. at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat Michael Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 115 McGregor Street, R2W 4V7. Vichnaya Pam'yat CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
