EVA PETERS (published on December 22, 2007)

EVA PETERS It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Eva Peters, peacefully, at the Victoria Hospital, December 19, 2007, at the age of 60. She will be sadly missed by her brother Abe Peters, brother Jake Peters and wife Trudy, sister-in-law Erna, special godson Trevor Denesuik and wife Jill, many nieces and nephews, and her best friend Joann Kirbyson. Eva was predeceased by her parents Maria and Abriam Peters, and her brother John. Eva came to the City of Winnipeg from the town of Altona at a very young age, to work in the municipal hospital, Kimberley Clark, and then at the Health Sciences Centre for the past 20 years. Eva always cared about her family, her friends, and her job. She was always the first person there when anyone was in need, even in the last few months, when she was so ill. Eva loved music, especially playing the guitar, which she loved to play with her band in her early years. Sports was her passion! She was the first female Manitoba athlete to earn the Level 4 Umpiring status, and she has been nominated for the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame. Eva had many hobbies and talents, such as playing fastball, curling, knitting, sewing, carpentry, and reading. She could accomplish anything she put her mind to. She maintained her sense of humour throughout her illness. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sommerfeld Church, 10 km west of Altona on highway 201, followed by reception at the Church. The family would like to thank Dr. Salem and staff, on the fourth floor of the Victoria Hospital, for their care and understanding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, in memory of dear Eva. You were always there when we needed you, No task too great or small With a loving heart and a willing hand For us you did them all Thanks for the years you gave us And for the precious times we shared We only pray when you left us You knew how much we cared You will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.
