| WALTER WALKIN January 14, 1921 - January 13, 2008 It is with deep sorrow that the family of Walter Walkin announces his passing at the Gimli Community Health Centre on January 13, 2008, at the age of 86 years. Walter was predeceased by his wife Pauline 21 years ago, a son Anthony in 1948, a brother Melvin and sisters Ann and Frances. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Leonard (Terese), Lawrence (Noreen), Vern (Penny); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Walter was born and raised west of Fraserwood. He loved his mechanics and farming as well as nature, trapping, hunting and in later years, fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of Dad's greatest pleasures was his garden and flowers which he was very proud of and would share its bounty with family and neighbours. Even when he was unable to walk anymore, he still wanted to plant his garden. He had a chair where he would sit and watch it grow. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care he received at the Betel Home in Gimli and the Gimli Community Health Centre. Special thanks to the nursing staff at both facilities and Drs. R. C. and S. V. Patel. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17 at 2:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, with Pastor Larry Ulrich officiating. Interment will follow at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Fraserwood. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gimli Community Health Centre.
