PETER MAJOWSKI (published on March 17, 2008)



PETER MAJOWSKI In the early morning of Saturday, March 15, 2008, Peter Majowski passed away at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. Peter was born in Dolhe, Tarnopol, Poland on July 11,1927. He was predeceased by his parents, Franciszek and Anastazia (Zelena), brothers, Antoni and Jan (and wife Maria) and infant son, Tadeusz. Left to mourn are his loving wife of 58 years, Maria and sons, Joseph (Janina), John (Jadzia) and Stanley (Kristina). Peter leaves behind nine grandchildren, Alicia (fiancé Jason), Peter, Kathryn (Shaun) Gutkin, Eugene (fiancée Sabrina), Teresa, Francis, Anna, Luke and Adam, as well as two great-grandchildren Cameron and Juliana. He is, also, survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, Poland and the Ukraine. After living through the horrors of the Second World War, Peter was re-settled in the province of Opole, Poland. In 1958, Peter emigrated to Canada with Maria, Joseph and John. Peter worked at Aetna Roofing and Swift's Packers before settling in with the University of Manitoba where he was a caretaker for over 26 years, retiring in 1992. Peter had a great admiration and appreciation for higher education and was extremely proud that each of his sons graduated from University. Peter was an honest, caring and giving man, helping many people during his lifetime. Through his example, Peter taught his sons the value of honesty and hard work. He was proud of his Polish Heritage but was even prouder of being a Canadian Citizen. Peter has been a member of Holy Ghost Church since his arrival in Winnipeg in 1959. He was a member of the Polish Combatants Association (SPK #13). Prayer Service will be at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Tuesday March 18 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue on Wednesday, March 19 at 10:00 a.m. with an Oblate Father as Celebrant. Interment in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Peter, Eugene, Francis, Luke and Adam as well as great-grandson Cameron. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memory of Peter, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of your choice. Wieczny odpoczynek racz mu dac Panie.
