RILDA MARGARET CARR (nee DIEHL) July 28, 1919 June 11, 2008 Rilda, beloved wife of the late Stanley Spencer Carr, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family. She will forever be kept in loving memory by her children John (Karla), Arlene Cotton, Marie, Donald (Linda), Ryan (Phyllis) and Susan (Don Sinclair); grandchildren Darren and James, Heather and Julia, Laura (Kelley Morrell), Kira (Kris Coulter) and great-grandchild Gillian Margaret; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sister, Iris Carroll and brother, Les Diehl (Anna-Grace). She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Mary Diehl, nee Campbell, her sisters, Alice Smythe and Doreen Noble, her brother, Jim Diehl and her grandson, Steven Carr. Rilda was born in Cypress River, Manitoba, the third of six children, and attended Richmond Hill and Cypress River schools. She continued her studies in Winnipeg at Normal School. Her five year teaching career brought her to the Brigdenley school district where she met and married Stan in 1943 and began her next career of farming and raising a family. Rilda enjoyed being involved in many activities. She served with the United Church Women, the Carman Fair Board, and delivered Meals on Wheels up until her final year. She served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Horticultural Society for many years. She enjoyed curling, golfing, shuffle board, and camping. She was a member of the United Church choir and the Sonatrice singers. In the Homewood church she served as choir director for some years. She loved to garden and her flower arrangements, along with her baking won countless awards at the Carman Fair and at other community competitions. Rilda was a generous and caring spirit and a great inspiration to family and friends. The funeral will be held at the Carman United Church on Monday, June 16 at 1:00 p.m. following a private interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations can be made to the Active Living Centre, Box 2224, Carman, MB, R0G 0J0, or to Carman Home Care, Box 807, Carman, MB R0G 0J0.
