EDWARD (TED) DUCHARME (published on July 12, 2008)



EDWARD (TED) DUCHARME Suddenly on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Portage District General Hospital, Edward Ted Ducharme of St. Ambroise, beloved husband of Edna, passed away at the age of 71 years. Ted was born on June 26, 1937 to Rod and Rosanna Ducharme in St. Ambroise where he was raised and received his education. He married Edna Lafreniere on October 27, 1956, and they resided in St. Ambroise and raised seven children. Ted was a very well known Guide for hunting and also fished. He drove school bus for many years and was also a commercial fisherman. He owned his own gravel truck company and retired in the early 1990s. Predeceased by his parents and two brothers Norman and Brian. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 51 years Edna; five sons: Del (Cheryl) of Winnipeg, Ray (Peggy) of St. Ambroise, Wes and daughter Hannah of Winnipeg, Sterling (Lucille) of St. Laurent, and Jason (Deanna) of St. Ambroise; two daughters: Jeannette (Doug) Adams of Winnipeg and Joanne of Winnipeg; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers: Leo (Anita), Pat (Elaine) and Jim (Jocelyn) all of St Ambroise; five sisters: Olive Strang of Iowa, Nora Hiebert of Winnipeg, Clara Marriot of St. Ambroise, Sherry Bell of Portage la Prairie and Marie Mangin of St. Ambroise; and several nieces and nephews. Prayers were held on Friday, July 11, 2008 at the St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church, followed by the funeral mass with the Reverend Father Eric Giddens officiating. Musical selections Grandpa and Go Rest High On That Mountain were played during the service. Readings were given by Cathy Allard. Honorary Pallbearers were his sons; Del, Wes, Jason, Sterling and Ray, the active pallbearers were grandsons; Tyson, Alan, Dwayne, Dwight, Evan, Justin, and Cameron. Interment followed in the St. Ambroise Churchyard cemetery.
