JEAN WAYWOOD (published on July 12, 2008)

JEAN WAYWOOD (nee VAN WALLEGHEM) Peacefully, at the Victoria Hospital on July 9, 2008, Auntie Jean passed away at the age of 92 years. Born February 28, 1916 in Charleswood, her family moved to Ile-des-ChĂȘnes in 1919. She left the farm to work in the city in 1941 and worked for the Picardy Pastry Co. for three years and then went on to work for F.W Woolworth Co. for eight years. In 1951, she married Jack Waywood and lived in the St. Vital area. Jean was predeceased by her husband Jack (1986), her father Edmond Van Walleghem (1948), mother Hortense Van Acker (1960), sister Margaret (1963), brother-in-law Jules Danneels (1984), brothers Adolph (1955), Leopold (1984), and Jules (1988). Jean is survived by nephew George Danneels (Evelyn), grandnephews Marcel (Carole), Wayne (Lisa), five great-grandnephews, three great-grandnieces; nephews Richard (Linda) Waywood and Eddie (Annette) Waywood of Alberta. She was a 20 year member of the Royal Purple and also a member of the Catholic Women's League. The family expresses gratitude to Home Care, neighbours, and special friends Tina, Kay and Hamilton who helped provide care during Jean's aging years. Special thank you to Dr. F. Salem for his support and compassion. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 14 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing a half hour prior to the service in Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary's Rd.
