ALLAN EDWARD ANDERSON (published on July 12, 2008)

ALLAN EDWARD ANDERSON Peacefully, on July 9, 2008, after bravely fighting a brief illness, Edward Allan Anderson, 66, of Winnipeg, went to his eternal resting place. Allan leaves to treasure his memory his loving wife Roberta (Bobbie), his cherished son Brent, stepdaughter Brenda Kriss (Trevor), stepson Brett Griffiths, grandchildren Kaitlyn, Kevin and Devin, brother Ken (Caroll), of course precious dog Muffin, and many friends and family. Allan was predeceased by his wife of 38 years Doreen, son Glen, parents Earl and Dorothy, and brother John. Allan was born in Winnipeg on February 19, 1942, and raised in Norwood. He graduated from Nelson McIntyre Collegiate and then began his 34-year career at CN, where he met Doreen. They were wed in 1964, Glen was born in 1965 and Brent in 1968. The family settled in Transcona in 1971 where Allan spent the rest of his life. Allan was very active in the community acting as Vice President of Oxford Heights C.C. in the 1970s and coaching/managing various hockey teams on which Glen and Brent played. It was in these years that Allan established and maintained many great friendships right through his final days. His earlier passions of hunting and fishing were replaced in later years with golfing and traveling. Allan also had a love/hate relationship with his beloved Blue Bombers. Allan will be greatly missed for many reasons, not the least of which being his kindness, selflessness, quick wit and awesome sense of humour, which he maintained even through his darkest days. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 710 Roanoke, Father Owen Steeves officiating, reception to follow at Oxford Heights C.C., 359 Dowling Ave. E. Wheeler Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Cremation has taken place and private burial service to follow. The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the GC-3 unit at Health Sciences Centre and the Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Centre. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations can be made in Allan's name to Riverview Health Centre - Palliative Care Unit, 1 Morley, Winnipeg, R3L 2T4. Funeral Arrangements in care of WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVE. WEST AT BOND 224-1525
