PAMELA IRENE BUTCHARD March 26, 1949 - July 12, 2008 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing away of Pamela Irene Butchard (nee Trumpour). Pam was born March 26, 1949 to Roy and Hazel Trumpour in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. Pam was preceded by her mother Hazel Trumpour, father-in-law Joe Butchard and mother-in-law Grace Butchard. She leaves behind her best friend, husband and soul mate Neil Joseph Butchard; her daughter Krista Samara Spelmer; son-in-law Chris Spelmer; granddaughter Chanelle Spelmer; grandson Caleb Spelmer; her son Jonathan Butchard and his partner Rob Marriot; her father Roy Trumpour; sister Tannis Johnson; brother-in-law Robin Johnson; sister Heather Sakiyama; brother-in-law Rod Sakiyama; sister Susan Filiatrault; brother-in-law Bob Filiatrault; sister-in-law Elaine Robertson and her partner Gary Filyk and sister-in-law Lenore Butchard and her partner Arnie Cooper. Pam was the gentlest of souls and always went out of her way bring joy and comfort to others. She had a deep love of her family and a special place in her heart for children who had learning challenges. Pam obtained a Masters Degree in Education and was a dedicated teacher for over thirty five years. She taught special education, resource, Reading Recovery and the elementary grades as well trying a stint in administration. She also served on both the provincial and national board of Council of Exceptional Children for many years. Pam and Neil had the richest of marriages and Pam was the proudest and most caring of mothers. Her grandchildren only served to expand her pride and love. Pam and Neil were a presenting couple for Worldwide Marriage Encounter for a number of years. Pam had a deep love of reading, bridge, golf, quilting, travel and the outdoors. She and Neil managed to explore much of the world and to hike many locations including the Rockies, the Alps and the Andes Mountains. Pam deeply cherished her friends and always looked forward to her Bridge Club, Book Club, Quilting Group, Golf League and Wild Women's Group. Following a private interment, a reception to celebrate Pam's life will be held in Assiniboine Park Conservatory, on Wednesday, July 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations in Pam's name may be made to a charity of their choice. The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the staff of Home Care, Palliative Care and 3E, Riverview Health Centre for their compassion and support that made this difficult part of the journey easier. Pam left the world richer for her presence. |
