SHARON JANE MILNE (published on July 15, 2008)



SHARON JANE MILNE (nee FRASER) July 12, 1956 - July 12, 2008 Peacefully on July 12, surrounded by family Sharon passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Sharon is survived by husband Tim, children Kris and Sharla, Brad, Stacey and Mike, and grandson Liam. She also leaves to mourn her loss her mother Mamie, siblings Billy (Raechelle and Mackenzie), Kimberly (Gary), and Stephen (Cheryl, Kevin, and Ashley). Sharon also leaves many in-laws, nieces and nephews behind. She was predeceased by her father John, grandparents Norman and Jane Fraser. Sharon grew up in the north part of the city; Sharon became an LPN working at Health Sciences Centre and the Manitoba Clinic. She met Tim the love of her life in 1974 and they were married in September 1975. Together they raised their children in both Winnipeg and Thompson. She also became a stay at home mom, and cared for many neighbourhood children. Sharon was involved in many community organizations and became a School Trustee for Assiniboine South School Division. While in Thompson Sharon worked as a home care worker and then moved on to become a Coordinator for Special Needs Children for Awassis Agency. Sharon continued to be employed by Awassis until her passing. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of 6A Medicine for the care in her final days. We would also like to thank the staff of CancerCare Manitoba, St. Boniface. A special thank you Drs. Wong, Krahn, Daeninck, Jowett and Rich. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sharon's memory may be made to the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada, in care of 417-1732 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, MB R2N 1G8.
