CORNELIUS (NEIL) WIEBE (published on July 15, 2008)

CORNELIUS (NEIL) WIEBE March 20, 1929 July 12, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Wiebe at the Health Sciences Centre S.I.C.U. surrounded by family. He will be dearly missed and cherished in the memories of his daughter Heather Winch and husband Norm; son Terence Wiebe and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Chris, Sean, Sarah, Jessica, Emily, Rachel and Hannah; siblings, Jake, Mary, Anne, Tony and Edward; and many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Alice, parents, Abram and Katrina Wiebe, brother John, sister Helen and granddaughter Jaime. Neil was born and raised on the family farm south of Plum Coulee, MB surrounded by seven brothers and sisters. Summers for Neil were spent playing baseball and helping out on the farm. After graduating from Plum Coulee High School Neil went to teach school near Erikson, MB. Following this Neil moved to Winnipeg and entered a career with the C.N. Police as a Constable and retired 33 years later as an Assistant Inspector. Shortly after moving to Winnipeg Neil married Alice (nee Warkentin) with whom he spent the next 38 years living in Winnipeg and then Landmark, MB. Neil spent most of his free time with his family camping, boating and fishing either across Canada or at the family cottage at Rainy River, ON. His hobbies at home included gardening and woodworking. Neil was forever coming up with novelty toys and inventions for his grandkids and friends. Neil loved telling stories and always looked forward to visiting with family and friends. The family wished to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Health Sciences Centre for their aid and compassion during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Neil's memory may be made to St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, Room D1003, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, R2H 2A6. We love you Dad and miss you.
