ALEXANDER TRUS (published on July 15, 2008)

ALEXANDER TRUS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander Trus on July 13, 2008. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Donna; son-in-law, Les and granddaughter, Tanya; as well as a sister, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews in Belarus. Dad was born in Grodno, Poland in 1916. Together with his three sisters he worked on a farm until he was drafted into the army. He ran a motorcycle reconnaissance for the Polish army until his capture. He was freed by the British army and joined the British 5th regiment. Upon the armistice, Dad came to Canada. Life in a new country was hard but he soon met his Minnie (Mary Boyd), married and together they made a home and started their family. Dad was happiest building and fixing up things. He could always be counted upon to have extra nails, hammers, pipes, etc. He liked to be called upon for help and did so freely. Dad's greatest happiness however was when Tanya came into his life. The sun rose and fell on Tanya. No request was too large. Dad would push Tanya on the swings at the park for hours, take endless walks and be at her beckon call. To the very end, Dad always responded to her presence. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 16 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. with a Basilian Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg or a charity of one's choice. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, most especially the staff on B1. You were Alex's girls and boys . Your conversations, hugs and kisses were truly enjoyed by Dad. We would also like to thank the nursing staff who made Dad comfortable, and spent so many hours talking and comforting both Dad and the family, especially in the very difficult last week. You are all truly angels . VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
