ANNE FRIESEN (published on August 23, 2008)
ANNE FRIESEN (nee DERKSEN) Passed away on Friday, August 15, 2008 at Neepawa Hospital at the age of 78 years. Anne was born in Winnipeg on November 9, 1929 and moved to Gardenton in 1931. In 1943 the family moved to Morris where Anne spent her teenage years swimming in the river and playing ball with her friends. After high school Anne moved to Winnipeg to attend Success College and trained as a comptometer operator then was later employed at J.H. Ashdowns Hardware Co. On June 11, 1955 Anne married Jack Friesen of St. Elizabeth. They moved to Plumas and shortly there after moved to the farm west of Plumas. On the farm Anne, the city girl learned to milk cows, bale stack hay and grow a garden. Jack and Anne had two children a son Eric born in 1957 and a daughter Marina born in 1961. In 1968, Anne left her young family at home and began her nurses training. In 1969 she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Anne worked as an LPN in Gladstone Hospital and at Third Crossing Manor. She retired after 20 years of service on December 30, 1989. Anne enjoyed many pleasant hours in her flower gardens and yard. Anne lost her husband Jack of 48 years on March 9, 2004. She is survived by her son Eric and his wife Saskia; their daughters Katherine and Madeleine; and daughter Marina and husband Robert McLean; their son Don (friend Stephani) and daughter Lisa. Anne was predeceased by her brother John in 2007. A celebration of Anne's Life will be held Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Plumas United Church with Wendy Denbow officiating. Interment will take place at the Plumas Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
