MOLLIE IRENE IVES (published on August 23, 2008)

MOLLIE IRENE IVES (BEARD) January 1, 1920 - August 7, 2008 At Mum's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal memorial service. Mollie was predeceased by her husband Charles and her five sisters. She'll be lovingly remembered by her daughter Barbara Whitla (Douglas), two grandsons Todd (Laurel), Robb (Heather) and four great-grandchildren Madison, Brett, Shane and Quinn as well as nieces and nephews and their families. Mom was a very remarkable woman with many accomplishments to her credit - being featured at the Manitoba Museum and Manitoba History magazine for being the first lady to win her case in the Supreme Court of Canada without the assistance of a lawyer. Over the years she was a receptionist at Winnipeg Clinic, censor for Manitoba film board, real estate agent, held volunteer positions on Civil Defence, Flood Relief and Protection, on the board of directors of the St. Vital YMCA, Paraplegic Association, and the March of Dimes. Yes, many years of involvement in the community. Mum was always very supportive of family and friends and available and ready to help and advise. Her brilliant passion was solving problems, writing poetry and reading books - always saying that if a word is worth writing it's certainly worth reading. She said poetry is emotion recollected in tranquility. Glee is certainly meant To be - It comes from deep Within us Releasing giggles Hidden there Erasing heavy hours Of care Life becomes worth Living! MII In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Hospital Foundation - 840 Sherbrook or a charity of your choice. Many thanks to the staff at the Health Sciences Centre and all the well wishers and friends at Fred Douglas Place. It sure helps to have caring friends. Informal gathering will be held 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on September 11 at the Niakwa Country Club - 630 Niakwa Rd. MUM LOVED AND WAS VERY MUCH LOVED CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
