GEORGE WENDFIELD GILES (published on August 27, 2008)

GEORGE WENDFIELD GILES JR. Peacefully passed away at Crocus Court Personal Care Home on Sunday, August 24, 2008, George Giles age 86 years of Roblin, MB. George was born September 13, 1921 in the R.M. of Pembina, MB. He served overseas in the Second World War as an MP. On July 26, 1948 George was united in marriage to Dorothy Joyce Heming. Besides raising their two daughters George and Dot owned and successfully operated Heming's Jewellery Store in Roblin for thirty odd years. George supported his community tirelessly through Christ Anglican Church, Roblin Lions Club, The Royal Canadian Legion Roblin Branch No. 24, and Roblin Masonic Lodge No. 122. Anglican Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Two o'clock from the Chapel of Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home, Roblin, MB, with Reverend Shirl Christian officiating, followed by Interment at Roblin District Cemetery. George was predeceased by his parents George Wendfield Giles Sr. and Hannah Nora (nee MacDonald) Giles; Wife Dorothy Joyce (nee Heming) Giles March 7, 2002; Brother Tom and Marjorie Giles; brother-in-law Pat McGinnis. Surviving are daughters: Gerry (Greg) Terlesky of Roblin, Wendy (David) Olson of Gimli; four grandchildren: Jason (Daniette) Terlesky of Viking, AB, Jana Terlesky and Chris Pope of Winnipeg, Fraser and Liam Olson of Gimli; one great-grandson Nolan Terlesky of Viking, AB; sister: Hanah McGinnis of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Robert Heming Sr. of Arizona, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Gifts to honour the life of George Giles may be made to a charity of one's choice.
