FRED MAYTWAYASHING (published on August 27, 2008)



FRED MAYTWAYASHING At the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB, after a lengthy battle with diabetes and heart disease, Fred left to be with his Mom, Dad and siblings on August 22, 2008. Semp, as he was affectionately known, was born in Dog Creek on February 17, 1945. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 36 years Sandra; four sons, Vance (Wanda) Malcolm, Vincent (Pauline) Maytwayashing, Tyler (friend Samara) and Nicholas; four daughters, Vanessa (Dennis), Viola, Chantel, Cassandra; eight grandchildren, Kelsey, Raelynne, Savannah, Shannon, Jake, Sugar, Melvin and Catherine; one sister, Sarah (Bruce) Walker; three brothers, Clifford (Eleanor) Maytwayashing, Tom 'Clemence' (Rose) Paul and Raymond (Mary-Anne) Maytwayashing; brother-in-law Lynn Murphy; an aunt Ida Monkman; an uncle Frank (Roseanne) Desjarlais, the Delia Hanslip family, along with numerous relatives, nieces, nephews and cousins. Wake service will be held at his place of residence on Lake Manitoba First Nation starting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at the Lake Manitoba School Gymnasium with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment will follow in the Lake Manitoba First Nation Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pat Maytwayashing, Lee Murphy, Darryl Campeau, Kenny Choken, Pat Paul and Arthur Malcolm. All his grandchildren and family friends can consider themselves Honorary Pallbearers that day for Fred. Special thank you to the staff at the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital, Seven Oaks Renal Health Department, Health Sciences Centre, Lake Manitoba Chief Council, Lake Manitoba Home Care and family and friends for their support.
