NETTIE QUIRING (published on September 03, 2008)
NETTIE QUIRING (nee ENNS) 1926-2008 Our beloved mother and grandmother was called into the loving arms of her Saviour on September 1, 2008. Nettie was born in southern Russia and immigrated to Canada as an infant. She grew up in Lena, Manitoba and then moved to Steinbach. Nettie spent many happy and fulfilling years teaching in Steinbach. She recalled many memories from this time in her life. She talked of teaching her young students many scripture passages. Many visits with mom were spent hearing her recite those lengthy passages of scripture that brought us much strength. Mom married dad at the age of 30 and they spent 50 loving years together. Together they raised their family in North Kildonan. Our family life was filled with love. Mom's love for cooking and baking meant we would come home to the aroma of baking buns, breads, platz. Mom also loved to read and be quiet before God. She leaves her family with a legacy of faith and prayer. Family and friends enjoyed her positive, loving spirit and encouraging words. Those around her felt very loved. Nettie loved to sing anytime anywhere. She sang with her daughters at family and church functions and would often burst into song while driving or visiting. Church was also an important part of her life. She attended and served in the Mennonite Brethren church for most of her life. Nettie will be lovingly remembered by her family, Karen (daughter) and Dave Taylor, Naomi and Mark, Graham and Angela; Brian (son) and Dorothy Quiring, Alyssa, Natasha and Eli; Rob Thornhill (son-in-law), Stephanie, Andrea and Matt. She will also be remembered by her sister Katie Thiessen, sisters-in-law Jessie (Nick) Lowen, Tina Meyer and Mary Quiring, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her loving husband Frank Quiring and daughter Elaine Thornhill, her parents Reverend Frank and Elizabeth Enns, four sisters and two brothers. The family would like to thank the staff at 2 South Donwood Manor for their kind and loving care for mom. Thank you also to Dr. J. Bergen for his care for many years. Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 5, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at McIvor Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Avenue, with viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Donwood Manor Personal Care Home. |
