ALMA EILEEN BURTON (nee KING) September 14, 1915 - August 31, 2008 With deep sadness we announce the passing of our Mom, Alma Burton aged 92 years on Sunday evening at Concordia Hospital. Alma is survived by son Lance of Stillwater, Oklahoma, daughter Linda of Winnipeg and a sister Carol (Dave) Mackie of Orillia, Ontario and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Cloquet, Minnesota but grew up in Brandon, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg to attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. She married Ron in 1942 and they raised their family in St. James. She later lived in North Kildonan and was a member of North Kildonan United Church. She moved to Meadowood Manor in St. Vital (2000) where she was an active participant in their activities and was president of the tenant's association. Alma was predeceased by her husband Ron (1979); sisters, Margaret (Len) Tasker and Grace (Art) Denton and brother Clyde (Bea) King. The family would like to thank Dr. Carl Duerksen, Dr. Clifford Yaffe and the staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and assistance through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Meadowood Manor Foundation or the charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Meadowood Manor, 577 St. Anne's Road, Winnipeg on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Dave Holland will officiate. |
