MYRTLE ELLEN FUST (published on September 13, 2008)

MYRTLE ELLEN FUST (nee PETHYBRIDGE) Myrtle Fust was born July 3, 1922 in Graysville, Manitoba in the school and entered into rest Monday, September 8, 2008 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba after a short courageous battle with cancer with daughters by her side. Myrtle was raised in Elm Creek. She married Norman Fust on December 30, 1946 in Winnipeg and they lived in the Elm River District. He passed away on May 15, 1987. Myrtle was fortunate to remain on her acreage until her passing. Myrtle was predeceased by her husband Norman Agnew Fust, parents Charles and Alice Pethybridge, parents-in-law Charles and Janet Fust, brother William Pethybridge, brothers-in-law Fred Dresser, Clarence Fust, Henry Fust and Robert Gould and sisters-in-law Shirley Bachalo and Ellen Gould. Left to cherish her memory are her twin daughters Jean (Kim) Jack of the Gainsborough District and Joan Fust of Portage la Prairie and sister Kathleen Garlough of Dawson Creek, British Columbia along with cousins, nieces and nephews in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and New Jersey. Mom liked sewing, gardening, tending to flower gardens especially her red and salmon geraniums, milking Jersey cows, painting, staining wood, travelling to numerous places with immediate family such as England, Wales, Scotland, Austrailia, New Zealand, Alaska, Expo 1986 and Dawson Creek, British Columbia and as well to tropical destinations Florida, California, Hawaii. She loved outings with her daughters to have lunch at the White Horse Tea Room or to go shopping for bargains (particularly for high heel shoes, clothes and ear rings). For Mom weather was always of special interest and daily temperatures were marked on the kitchen calendar. She felt everyone should have an outdoor thermometer! She was a life time member of the Elm River U.C.W. She will be fondly remembered by her neighbours and dear friends Jack and Edna Miller and sons, Vera Hogaboam (the late Charlie) and family and Wes Packham. Mom will be sadly missed by cat Tiger her pal of 14 years In keeping with her wishes there will be no funeral service. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Myrtle's memory to Maple Grove Cemetery, RR3 Site 42 Comp 6, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3A3 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 0R3. Flowers are gratefully declined. A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Myrtle by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. 857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
