JEAN ROSAMOND SMITH (published on September 20, 2008)

JEAN ROSAMOND SMITH (nee HICKS) It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of mom on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the age of 85 in the Middlechurch Nursing Home with her daughter by her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gordon of 61 years; daughter Vicky (Charlie) Taylor and grandchildren Scott and Tony; son Jim (Cheryl) Smith, grandchildren Ryan, Chad and Morgan. She is also survived by her sister Gladys McMillan of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba; sister-in-law Helen Penner (Pete) of Winnipeg, and sister-in-law Benva Standen (Roy) of Oakville, Ontario, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her parents George and Martha Hicks of High Bluff, Manitoba; brothers, Walter, Earl, Jim and Doug; sisters, Ethel, Mildred and Margaret; father and mother-in-law Gordon and Mae Smith. Mom grew up in High Bluff, Manitoba surrounded by a large and loving close family. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1945 from Misericordia General Hospital and nursed for over 25 years. Besides the love for all her family and friends, she especially enjoyed her winter trips with Gord to Brownsville, Texas and fantastic dinners at Helen and Pete's. She had a loving and caring nature with a keen sense of humour and wit. She will be sadly missed by all. Love you Mom. The family would like to give a special thanks to the very loving staff who took such good care of Mom on N1 at Middlechurch Home. It was very much appreciated and will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada or to a charity of one's choice. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home with reception to follow.
