RONALD ERNEST MYERS (published on September 20, 2008)

RONALD ERNEST MYERS It is with great sadness that the family of Ron Myers announces his peaceful passing on September 17, 2008 after a full life of 90 years. Remaining to forever cherish Ron's memory are his wife Isabelle; son Alvin (Pat); granddaughters Robin (Oliver), Gina (Nelson), Melissa (Bill), and Erin (Chris), and great granddaughters Shanelle, Brittany, Courtney and Paige. Ron will also be lovingly remembered by his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Audrey (Lorne), George (Idella), Fergie, Ella, many nieces and nephews and friends. Ron is predeceased by his sisters Eva and Dorothy. Ron was born March 2, 1918 in Vernon BC. During his early years he worked for a logging camp and on a farm while completing his grade 12 education. While at school Ron met his lifelong love Isabelle and they were later married on Valentines Day 1943. Ron's first career was as a teacher in Thorsby and later in Winnipeg where he became a principal. A few years later he became a colporteur, a job he loved as he was working with books. While in Winnipeg he found his true calling and was ordained as a minister of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in 1962. Over the next 24 years, Ron was the pastor in Seventh-Day Adventist churches in Moose Jaw, Chetwynd, Rocky Mtn House, Dartmouth, Moncton, Bella Coola, and finally in Prince George where he retired. He loved to sing and kept busy with his railroad models, painting, and woodworking. He was very active in his retirement years skiing and mountain climbing until he was 75. He was a very intelligent man who loved to read. He loved to travel and go on adventures with his wife. He loved and cared for all animals. He always had a smile on his face and an ear to listen. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Shawn Thomas for his very special care of our Ron. Arrangements were handled by Transcona Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be held on Monday September 22, at 11:00 am at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1314 Henderson Hwy, Winnipeg. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. We love you and you will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
