STEVE LUSTY (published on September 20, 2008)
STEVE LUSTY April 5, 1918 - September 18, 2008 Peacefully on September 18, 2008 our Dad and Papa, Steve Lusty passed away at age 90 at Sunnywood Manor PCH. He was predeceased by his parents Olive and Cedar Lusty, his wife Ellen Lusty, sister Evelyn, stepdaughter Velma, granddaughter Kim, grandson Barry, and Denise, his niece. Dad (Papa Steve) will be sadly missed by his son Roger (Celena), daughter Valerie (David), Blanche and Percy (Shirley); sister Bernice (Austin), niece Noreen and husband; nephews and nieces Sandy (O), Dwayne (Leona), Kelly, Kerry, Diana, Bruce, Brian and spouses, grandsons Cory (Mel), Mark, Kyle, Olin, and Harley; and granddaughters Leanne (Chris), Christy (Anthony), Jodie, Alora, and Nerissa; great-grandchildren Bradley, Aaron, Riley, Harley, Kaden, Haylee, Connie, Augustine, Tessa May, Lucas, and Canaan. Steve was a longtime resident of Traverse Bay, MB. He worked hard all his life, and was always willing to give a helping hand. He worked for Abitibi Paper Company in Pine Falls until his retirement. Without slowing down he then became the community tree cutter. He was a volunteer fire fighter too. Steve loved his family, and his dog Chicklet very much, providing them with everything they wanted and needed. Life was an adventure to him, he loved fishing, trapping, a good party with friends, card games and Ellen's cooking. He collected things that you never know if you'll need again , and was good at fixing stuff. Steve later moved into the Sunnywood Manor PCH in Pine Falls, where he continued to live his life comfortably with the assistance of the wonderful staff at the PCH, including his favourite nurse Celena Frayne. He was strong and had a great memory, he would never forget a face. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and aides that cared for and loved Steve during his golden years at the home. We won't forget his 90th birthday when we set off the fire alarms and had the paramedics and the fire crews show up. Steve thought that was pretty funny. Prayers will be held on Sunday, September 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St. in Selkirk, MB. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Michael's Church, Victoria Beach, MB, with Pastor Alex Cross officiating. Donations on his behalf may be made to the Sunnywood Manor PCH Resident Council Fund. (367-8201) Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. |
