HELEN ENNS (published on September 23, 2008)

HELEN ENNS (nee WIENS) It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who peacefully went to be with her Lord on September 21, 2008 at the age of 78. Helen is lovingly missed by her husband Henry, her daughter Elenore (William), grand-child Jennifer, great-grandchildren, Brenden and Noah and grandchild Angela; her son Richard (Ivy), grandchildren Corah and Suzu; her son Geoffrey (Caroline), grandchildren Simon and Zachary; and her son Ronald (Lisa), grandchildren Marissa and Matthew. Helen was born March 3, 1930 in Blumenort (Gretna), Manitoba. She was the eldest of four daughters. She was predeceased by her parents Peter H. and Margaretha Wiens, sister Martha and stepmother Maria. Helen is survived by her sisters Hilda (Henry), Henrietta (Art) and brother-in-law John. On the confession of her faith, Helen was baptized by Bishop J. Bueckert. Shortly after their wedding in 1951, Henry and Helen moved to Winnipeg where they raised their family. She loved and cared greatly for each and every one of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished every moment with them. She was happiest when all family members were together and enjoying themselves. Helen was an outgoing, trusting person who always enjoyed neighbourly conversations with all people from all walks of life, much like her father. Helen's gentle and caring nature always shone bright. She also processed a great sense of humour and loved to laugh. Helen loved and excelled at painting, crafting, quilting, stamping, sewing, knitting, needlepoint, cooking and baking. Henry and Helen enjoyed spending many summers camping with their children, grandchildren and her sisters and their families in places like Sprucewoods, Falcon Lake and Bird's Hill Park. There were many moonlit campfires and fun beach days. She also enjoyed many trips with Henry within Canada, United States and Europe. In her later years, Helen enjoyed spending many peaceful days at the family cottage tending to the flower gardens and strolling along the beaches. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Mennonite Church, Notre Dame and Arlington, Winnipeg with Pastor Cathy Koop officiating. Viewing will be held one half hour prior to service. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or charity of choice. The family wishes to thank Doctor Loepp and the staff at the Pembina Personal Care Home. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN! FRIENDS FUNERAL SERVICE 2146 Main Street 339-5555
