EVELYN EILEEN FOWLER (published on September 23, 2008)

EVELYN EILEEN FOWLER March 10, 1928 September 21, 2008 Peacefully at home, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer, the family sadly announces the passing of their dear mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Donald in 2002, and will be lovingly remembered by her sons Lou (Tamara), and Charles (Leslie); daughters Marilyn and Donna (Randy); grandchildren Michael, (Tracey) Michelle, Lisa, Jacqueline, Amanda and Bradley; great-grandchildren Maddie and Nicholas. Evelyn is survived by her sister Verna, brother Charlie (Lois), many nieces, nephews and friends. Evelyn was born in Wisla, Manitoba where she met and married Don in 1949. They moved to Winnipeg in 1971 where they raised their family. Evelyn enjoyed motor home trips to Las Vegas and Clear Lake, playing cards, bingo, word search puzzles, and spending time with her family, as they were her life. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. D.M. Miller, Dr. H Unruh, and the palliative care nurses for their exceptional care. Prayers will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 355 Andrews St. on Thursday at 10:30 with Father Kevin Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or the charity of your choice. In tears we saw you sinking We watched you fade away You suffered much in silence You fought so hard to stay, You faced your task in courage Your spirit did not bend. But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. So He put His arms around you, And whispered Come to Me . So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer again.
