RED (MIENARD) DIELSCHNEIDER (published on September 27, 2008)

RED (MIENARD) DIELSCHNEIDER February 27, 1923 September 16, 2008 In the early morning of September 16, 2008, our dear gentle Dad passed away at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. He died in peace, having completed his tasks and having fulfilled his dreams here on Earth. We miss him so much, but are thankful that he died before the pain of his illness took hold. Dad is survived by his wife, Stephanie, daughters Judy (Allan) and Valerie (Bob), grandchildren Darin, Kevin and Carlee, sisters Anne and Chris, brother Joe, and nieces and nephews. He will be missed by many old and dear friends, his neighbours at Eagle Ridge, and by his comrades at the Army Navy and Air Force Veterans (ANAF) Unit 283. Red was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Anna-Maria and brother Pete and sister Kay. Dad proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy during The Second World War. Red met Stephanie in Hamilton. After the war, they married, then moved to Winnipeg where they worked and raised their family. Mom and Dad traveled all over the world both before and after retirement, enjoying every trip. Red was very proud of the achievements of his daughters and grandchildren. Dad enjoyed being a member of the ANAF Unit 283, where he was a founding member of the executive of the Over 60's Club and a proud member of the Colour Party. Red and his daughter Judy ran the weekly cribbage games for two years. He was known and liked by everyone at the Unit, and was proud to be awarded a Lifetime Membership and be active at the ANAF until he died. In his later years, Red was content to spend more time relaxing on the patio of the condo where he enjoyed the company of his family, friends and neighbours, especially Angie and John, and he was always ready for a conversation and a glass of beer. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the ANAF Assiniboia Unit 283, located at 3584 Portage Avenue, officiated by Reverend Brownlie. Interment of ashes by the family will be at a later date at Brookside Cemetery. The family requests no flowers please. Arrangements by Wojcik's Funeral Chapel 897- 4665. You Give Me Strength Namaste, Dad
