NORA MATILDA TRIPPIER (published on September 27, 2008)

NORA MATILDA TRIPPIER (nee LUKE) It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Nora Trippier (nee Luke) on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. A wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Nora leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her loving husband Ed Schmidt, her children Blair Carter (Maria) and Bruce Carter (Melanie), her precious grandchildren Daniel, Liane, Kurt and Katrina. She is also survived by her brother Jim Luke (Phyllis) and numerous other relatives and friends. Nora was born on December 23, 1923 in Teulon, Manitoba. After her education in Stonewall she worked a few years in retail in Winnipeg. She then farmed much of her life near Petersfield with her husband Ernest Carter who predeceased her in 1981. She married James Edward Trippier in 1986 and continued to reside in the Petersfield area until soon after his passing in 1988. She is survived by her husband Ed Schmidt with whom she has been married to and lived with since May 2006 in Selkirk, Manitoba. Nora loved to socialize with her friends and family. Until a couple of years ago she was always on the go with activities she so much enjoyed such as curling, bowling, floor curling and cribbage. She traveled throughout the province with Ed for the MSOS Games. They did great and had a fantastic time socializing with everyone. Nora loved the farm. Traveling the world and riding horses were some of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed volunteering, such as her time at the Gordon Howard Centre. We will miss her tremendously. Love you always. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 29 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Ken Pawluk officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
