MARGUERITE MARIE JEANNE HASLUND (published on September 27, 2008)

MARGUERITE MARIE JEANNE HASLUND (nee HAMOLINE) Peacefully on September 23, 2008 our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at Golden Links Lodge. Remaining to forever to cherish Marguerite's memory are her daughter Linda Woollard (Russ); son Jim Haslund (Shirley); grand-children, Nathan (Natalie) Haslund, Corey and Kristina Woollard and great-grandchildren, Austin and Tyson; sister Melvina Gordon of Langley, BC; sisters-in-law, Lillian Torske of Inwood, Mildred Johnson of Winnipeg and Myrtle Mager of Inwood, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her husband Wally, parents Celestin and Elisa Hamoline, brother Armand Hamoline and sister Marie Couture predeceased her. Born on February 26, 1922 in Northern Saskatchewan, mom was the second youngest of four children. At an early age her family moved to France where they resided for a few years returning back to Saskatchewan where she grew up. During the Second World War Mom went to work in Toronto. She spoke fondly of those times living and working there. After the war she returned to Winnipeg and worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia. Soon after she met our father. They married in 1950, settling in St. Vital where together they raised their two children. While raising her family, she remained active in her husband's business, Haslund's Auto Service. She later returned back to the work force, working at Eaton's Mail Order and then Canada Post. She retired from Canada Post in 1987. Mom loved and cared greatly for her family. She especially cherished the time she spent looking after her grandchildren, who were the love of her life. She was devoted to her family, a caregiver who was always there for us or anyone in need. She was meticulous with everything she did whether it was gardening, her craftwork, or taking care of her family. She especially loved taking her daily long walks. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). The family extends their grateful thanks to all the staff at Golden Links Lodge for all the wonderful care they gave to our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer or Parkinson's Society of Manitoba. We will never forget your kindness, strength and love. You will always be in our hearts. Love you Mom. GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
