LORETTA MURIEL SPENCE (published on October 04, 2008)

LORETTA MURIEL SPENCE (nee TAYLOR) April 17, 1936 October 1, 2008 FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS On Wednesday, October 1, 2008 God came and picked one of his most precious and beautiful flowers to take back to grow again in his eternal garden of rest. Loretta was born and raised in Lac du Bonnet. As a young girl she had her own paper route, helped her blind aunt and was a Nurse's Aide at the All Saints Nursing Home in Winnipeg. When she was 17, and with her parents signatures she married her husband David and began her lifelong career as a loving wife and gentle mother to her thirteen children and then when the time came, helping out with her grandchildren and neighbors children. She either brought them to her home or traveled to where they were to shower them with the care and concern they needed. Loretta loved her family and traveling to visit family. Her interests were gardening, canning, baking, jigsaw puzzles, knitting, crocheting, puzzle books, and Sunday dinners with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sleeping in and then reading a few chapters of her latest romance novel while sipping on her cold coffee before starting her busy day of household chores. Once her housework was done for the day she could be found sitting in her chair enjoying any one of her pastimes and listening to what was on the T.V. She was one of a kind and going on without her is a journey we will have to learn to take. With our hearts full of memories we won't do it alone. Loretta was predeceased by her husband David, her son Ken, her parents Edward and Esther, her sisters Genevieve, Marjorie, Ann, and Janette, her brothers Edward, George, Ivan, and Jim. Loretta will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Sandra, Joyce (Mark), Sharon, Rodney (Eleanor), James, Robert (Doris), Garry (Annette), Jo-Anne, Kimberley (Henry), Heather, Laureen (Pete), Lucinda (Jim) her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, her sister Ellen, her nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and her fish Archie. A viewing for immediate family will be held on Monday, October 6, 2008 from 7:00 9:00 p.m. at Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at the Ashern Legion Hall with Melanie Kauppila officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the hall. Service will conclude at the hall with cremation to follow and interment will be held at a later date. Pallbearers will be her daughters Joyce, Jo-Anne, Kimberley, Heather, Laureen and Lucinda. Honorary pallbearers will be her caregivers from the Eriksdale and Ashern Personal Care Homes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Activities Department at the Ashern Personal Care Home c/o Margaret Gutknecht, P.O. Box 110, Ashern, Manitoba R0C 0E0. The family would like to say a very special thank you to Joan Howland for getting our mom the help she so desperately needed that day. Thank you to all the staff at the Eriksdale and Ashern Personal Care Homes and the staff at the Lakeshore Health Centre for making Loretta's days at these places the best they could possibly be. Thanks to John of Arnason Funeral Home for looking after our mom. Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Home Ashern-Lundar 768-2072 1-866-323-3593
