ALLA (ALICE) BUCHART (published on October 12, 2008)

ALLA (ALICE) BUCHART (nee GALLER) Peacefully, after a short battle with cancer, Alla Buchart passed away at the St. Boniface hospital on Friday October 10, 2008. Remaining to forever cherish Alla's memory are her husband Karl Heinz Buchart; children Markus Buchart and Delilah Buchart, and beloved grandchild Amy Sanford all of Winnipeg; brother Alex (Shirley) Galler of Winnipeg; sisters Maryanne (Heiner) Niens and Victoria (Juergen) Khonke of Germany; nieces Susan (Karl) Heymann, Nathalie (Ingo) Roesler and Nadine Khonke; very special friend Elsa Bater; as well as several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both parents Antonia and Bernhard Galler of Minden Germany. Alla's early years involved her family living in several locations before finally settling in Minden Germany after the Second World War. There she met her husband of 52 years Karl Heinz. Shortly after marrying, the young couple immigrated to Winnipeg Canada in 1957. Alla's first few jobs in Canada were at garment sewing factories where her ability to speak several languages helped her to make some wonderful lifelong friends. With school age children Alla became very involved with her Catholic Woman's League and volunteering. She was fondly named The Hot Dog Lady by the students of St. Ignatius School as a result of her years of volunteer work at the school. Alla loved working with people and eventually took a job with Ritz Foods at the Winnipeg Arena and Stadium where she worked until declining health forced her retirement at the young age of 68! Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy., with Rev. Fr. Patrick A. Morand, presiding. The family would like to extend their most sincere thanks to the caring staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care ward.
