LILLIAN PALANUK (published on October 14, 2008)

LILLIAN PALANUK It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Lillian Palanuk on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Olive (Don) Couch, Sister-in-Law Evelyn (Dan) Palanuk, and many nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by her parents Peter and Agnes, sisters Hazel, Mary, Claire, and brother Dan. Lil lived most of her life with her sister Claire at the Beach Avenue residence in Winnipeg that their father had built for the entire family. For most of her working years, she was employed by the T. Eaton Co. in the Mail Order building on Graham Avenue. In later years, she enjoyed cooking and gardening - two of her great passions. She shared her father's green thumb and her happiest days were spent at home tending with loving care to the flowers, vegetables and other plants in their home garden. Lil was a great cook, always trying new recipes, but her holupchi were the best! She loved the neighborhood bazaars, church teas, and finding just the right outfit to attend these functions. She spent most of her remaining seven years of life at Oakview Place Personal Care Home in Winnipeg. Thanks to Kendra Manulak and staff at Oakview for the compassionate care that Lillian received during her stay. Thanks also to Dr. Wong and staff at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and concern during her final days. Lil will be remembered by her family and friends for her ready wit and sense of humor and for the many wonderful meals the family shared together at the Palanuk homestead. In accordance with Lillian's wishes, there will be no formal service. If friends and relatives so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lil may be made to Extendicare Oakview Place or to the charity of their choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
