EDWIN MACDONALD (published on October 14, 2008)

EDWIN (ED) ROSS MACDONALD October 8, 1943 - October 10, 2008 Peacefully on October 10, 2008, following a brief illness; it is with deep sadness that we announce Ed’s passing with his family by his side at St. Boniface General Hospital. Ed was born in Kenora, Ontario on October 8, 1943. He worked at Canadian Pacific Railway’s Weston Shops for over thirty (30) years as a machinist helper and retired at the age of fifty-five (55); but retirement was not an option for Ed. He came home one day announcing that he was offered a job as Manager at one of the Super Lube locations which lasted for over 10 years. He took pride in this position and loved working with people and enjoyed the new challenges that came his way. He became our computer guru DAD! Ed was a very honest and hard-working individual that would help anyone. He was always very dedicated to his family and to all who became a part of his life though friendships. He treasured the time with his wife Geri his best friend, seldom would you ever see them apart. Ed enjoyed the outdoors. His favorite passion was fishing and spending countless hours “in his work shed”. He was our ultimate handyman, always there when we needed him. Ed loved being a Grandpa and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was OUR biggest fan at the hockey, football and basketball games! We always knew when he was in the stands! Ed leaves a legacy of love with his wife Geri of thirty-three (33) years, daughters Cindy (Laurie), Kimberly (Don), Teresa (Jim), Tammy (Harvey) and son Robert as well as seven (7) grandchildren Paul, Amanda, Nicholas, Eli, John, Brendyn and Lucas. Ed is also survived by his sister Lanny (Bob), brother Bill, sister-in-law Nadine; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents Ross and Verna and parents-in-law Argyle (Jimmy) and Mary. A Celebration of Ed’s life will take place Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard with Pastor Michael Kurtz officiating. God saw him getting tired, And a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him And whispered, “Come with me.” With tearful eyes we watched him suffer, And saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, We could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Boniface General Hospital Palliative Care Unit. 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg R2H 2A6. “Rest in Peace” Thomson “In the ParK” 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to
