CLIVE C. BATE (published on October 17, 2008)

CLIVE C. BATE Unexpectedly on Sunday October 12, 2008, with family by his side, Clive passed away at the Health Science Center at age 75. Clive was born in Neepawa, Manitoba on May 18, 1933. Clive had a Masters Degree in Social Work. Beginning his career in Dauphin, he eventually became the Executive Director of Children’s Home of Winnipeg, a position he held for approximately 10 years. Clive finished his career with his own private practice in marriage and family counselling where his passion for helping people continued. Clive was very passionate and hard working. He loved time-spent fishing at his cottage at Clearwater Bay, Ontario. With his carpentry skills, he spent many hours in his workshop at home, building furniture for family, friends and the Grace Hospital Foundation. These skills enabled Clive to design and build the interior of the cottage at the lake he so much loved. Clive met the love of his life, his friend and soul mate, Ollie in Dauphin, and was married for 51 years. Clive is survived by his wife Ollie, his mother Gladys, his son Robert Dunstan (Debbie), his grandchildren Jane and Sarah, and his daughter Priscilla Haegeman (Kirk). He was preceded by his father Charles and his aunt Alma Conway. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Clive’s memory to the Grace General Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, R3J 3M7. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to our dear friends for their support and kindness during this trying time. Thanks to Dr. A. Boyd and the staff at Health Sciences Center for their care and concern. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18, at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue (entrance on Aubrey Street) at 1:30 p.m. Neil Bardal Inc. 949-2200
