MARCELLE GRANGER GENTES (published on January 08, 2009)

MARCELLE GRANGER GENTES It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Marcelle Marie Gentes (nee Granger) on January 6, 2009 at the Foyer Valade, Winnipeg, Manitoba, daughter of the late Zotique Granger and Juliette Barnabe. Marcelle leaves to mourn her brother Jules (Yvette), her sisters Thérèse Gregoire, sister Cécile Granger, Juliette Granger and Germaine Robert and her sisters-in-law Cécile Granger, Simone Gentes, Denise Caron, Thérèse Lambert and Marie Kerkolee. She will be missed by her stepchildren Charles (Louise), Colette, Juliette, Gisèle (Dwight) and Linda (Brian). She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grand-children. Marcelle was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Henri, Hercule and Marc and her sisters Aline and Carmelle. Marcelle was born in Letellier, Manitoba on April 25, 1922. Marcelle devoted much of her life to the service of God through the Order of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions teaching in Manitoba and Quebec. She had a profound impact and influence on many young students, some of whom still keep in touch. After moving back to Manitoba she worked at the Office of the Diocese of St. Boniface for the late Archbishop Antoine Hacault. This was an aspect of her career that she enjoyed immensely. In 1994, she was called to a second vocation and married Gérard George Gentes. She reveled in the instant family she garnered, complete with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Together they travelled and supported each other in good times and in bad. They were a cute' couple at the Foyer Valade and brought many smiles to staff and residents alike. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Eugene Church, 1007 St Mary's Road on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Marcel Carriere. Interment will be held in the Brandon Cemetery at a later date. The family wishes to thank the caring staff on the 3rd Floor, Foyer Valade for the compassionate and attentive care provided to Marcelle over the last few years. In lieu of floral arrangements please consider making a donation in memory of Marcelle to the Foyer Valade, 450 River Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2M 5M4. God has you in His keeping We have you in our hearts.
