WILLIAM STOUT LESLIE (published on January 08, 2009)

WILLIAM STOUT LESLIE The family regretfully announces the passing of their father, grandfather and great-grandfather in his 95th year. He was born in Motherwell, Scotland, immigrating to Canada as a young boy with his father William Leslie and his older brother Robert, after his mother, Barbara died in childbirth. He was predeceased by his father, William his older brother Robert, his wife Doris Ida, and his infant son Billie. Left to mourn his passing is his son, Donald, grandchildren, Bill (Liz), Diane, Susan and Karen (Joey), Robert, John-David and Heather (Ryan), great-grandchildren, Nigel, Jessie Lucas, Billy Jean, Chloe and Sammy. Dad grew up in Dodsland, Saskatchewan. He was a gifted athlete excelling in numerous sports, winning the Manitoba Snooker Championship in 1934 and 1935. He volunteered for service in the Canadian Army, joining the Royal Canadian Engineers in Winnipeg in 1939. He was a loyal member of the St. James Legion participating on their snooker, billiard and golf teams for many years. Dad was an enterprising business man. He made numerous friends in the operation of his Barber Shop/Pool Rooms in Winnipeg, Holland and Treherne, Manitoba before the war, and the Premier Club in Winnipeg after his war service was completed. Cremation has taken place and in accordance with his wishes, his remains have been interred at the Brookside Cemetery with his wife Doris, at a gathering of close friends and relatives. He lived a long and proud life and will be lovingly remembered.
