NORMAN FLAMAND (published on January 09, 2009)

NORMAN FLAMAND February 10, 1930 - January 3, 2009 It is with deep sorrow and love in our hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Norman Flamand of Calgary on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the age of 78 years. Norman was born on February 10, 1930 in St. Laurent, Manitoba. In his early years, he was an excellent hunting and fishing guide in Manitoba and Ball Lake, ON. He retired in 1995 from his position as a Custodial Assistant for the CBE. Some of his happiest times were spent camping and fishing at what is known as Norman's Point in Bassano. Norman dedicated himself to his family. By far the most important thing to him was the special bond and love that he shared with his family and friends. He taught us all how important it is to have a warm, welcoming home filled with joy. Norman was a wonderful listener and gave us a legacy of countless stories. He was an inspiration and role model to all those who were blessed to have known him. The time spent at family gatherings will be forever remembered and cherished. We love you, Dad, and you will be truly missed by all whose hearts you have touched. Norman leaves this world for a place of eternal happiness to be with his God and those he loves in Heaven. In passing, he leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 50 years, Genevieve; their seven children, Diane (Darrin), Vivian (Claude), Raymond (Diane), Sharon (Arnold), Angeline (Greg), Alcide (Jenni), and Claude (Lisa); fourteen grand-children and two great-grandchildren; sisters Delia Allard and Jean Rolley; and countless nieces, nephews and friends. Norman was predeceased by his parents Colin and Celeste Flamand, brother Leo, and sisters Emma, Mary, Alice, and Ester. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard's Catholic Church (711 - 37th Street N.W.) on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through Norman's family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Palliative Home Care Staff for all of their support. In living memory of Norman Flamand, a tree will be planted at Fletcher Park in Airdrie by McINNIS HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Eastside Memorial Chapel, 5388 MEMORIAL DRIVE N.E.
