ROSALINA MEDINA (published on January 10, 2009)

ROSALINA (SALLY / SALING) BANTILES MEDINA 1946 - 2009 It is with profound sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of our mother and wife Rosalina (Sally / Saling) Bantiles Medina on Tuesday, January 6 at home in Winnipeg. Born May 8, 1946 in Cebu, Philippines, Sally was the eldest of Columba and Crispin Bantiles' seven children. After attending school in the Philippines, Sally immigrated to Canada in 1975 with her cousins, Rita Panlilio and Lisa Bantiles, making Winnipeg her permanent home. Here, Sally met Samuel, and the two were married February 26, 1976. They made their home at the house on Arlington Street, where they raised their three children, Christine, Sam Jr. and Jimmy. Sally thoroughly enjoyed her work and made many friends at Samovar Restaurant, Food Systems Management (numerous locations), Western Glove Works and Salvation Army, where she did what she truly loved - managing a kitchen and preparing food. Sally was also a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph's Church. She will be remembered for her kindness, her love and acceptance of others, and above all, her desire to help those in need. In addition to her loving husband and three children, Sally is also survived by one brother and four sisters, and will be remembered in the prayers of many family members in the Philippines, Canada, and the U.S., as well as the members of the Kitahanon, Visaman and Bicol communities of which she was a member for many years. Viewing will be held Sunday, January 11 and Monday, January 12 at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. The funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13 at St. Joseph's Parish, 355 Andrews St., with burial and reception to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial. Our mother will be dearly missed and shall be forever in our hearts. Benevolent. Generous. Loving.
