KAZUO OKANO (published on January 10, 2009)

KAZUO OKANO Kazuo Okano peacefully passed away at Concordia Place on January 5th, 2009. He was predeceased by his father Mosaburo and mother Take Okano; son Howard; sisters, Haruko (Tamotsu) Mitani and Tazuko (Hisao) Hamada; brothers, Norman and Russell. Dad was born in Vancouver, B.C. on January 2nd, 1911, married Aiko in 1938 and moved to Manitoba in 1942. He came from a family of farmers and fishermen so always had many stories to tell about his fishing days and he loved his gardening. In passing he leaves to mourn his wife of 71 years, Aiko; son Joe (Miyoko); daughter Evelyn; granddaughter Kimberley (Tom); grandson Kyle (Shelley); great-granddaughter Lauren and two great-grandsons, Matthew and Aaron. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Concordia Place for their care and devotion and for making dad's life comfortable for the past four years. Cremation has taken place. A family memorial service will take place with Rev Ulrich officiating.
