DAPHNE MARGARET (MARG) WARDELL (nee CONWAY) While surrounded by her loving family, Daphne quietly passed away on January 7, 2009 at Grace General Hospital. Daphne was born in Stockwell, England. Did as affectionately called by her two brothers, came to Canada to visit her Aunt in Winnipeg and started working as a switchboard operator for Eaton's Canada. She began her new life when she met and married Ken on February 11, 1950. After settling down in Winnipeg and raising their five children, Daphne began her career at K-mart of 27+ years. It was here she met and kept many lifelong friends. After her retirement she enjoyed looking after her grandchildren, reading, golfing, gardening and painting. She loved flower arranging with the St. James Horticultural Society, where she won numerous awards with flowers from her beloved garden and with the spare time she had left she also taught classes. She volunteered for many events including The Red River Exhibition however, due to health reasons she regretfully had to stop. She enjoyed and looked forward to seeing the many friends she made at the Winnipeg Reh-Fit Center in the past few years. Daphne was predeceased by her parents, brother Frank and husband Ken. Mourning her loss are her four sons, Ken (Estelle), Dave (Marilyn), Don (Gerry) and Jeff; daughter Janice (Ray) Anderson; grandchildren, Candace, Jason, Sharleen, Crystal (Chris), Robert B.J. , Jennifer and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Colby, Cooper, Jessie, Alyssa, Zachary and Bradley. Also mourning, her Brother Alan (Pat) and family of Carrum, Australia. To the doctors, nurses and staff of Grace General Hospital, 2nd Floor, the family wishes to thank you for your excellent help and compassion. A special thank you goes out to spouses, co-workers and friends of the family for all their love and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations to Cancer Care or Heart and Stoke Foundation would be appreciated. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Chapel Lawn 885-9715 |
