FJOLA ANNA FJELDSTED (published on January 10, 2009)



FJOLA ANNA FJELDSTED (nee HALLDORSON) August 24, 1916 - January 7, 2009 Surrounded by family, Fjola Fjeldsted formerly of the Lundar and Chatfield area passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 92 years of age at Goodwin Lodge, in Teulon. Fjola was born on August 24, 1916 in Lundar, living her early years in the Lundar area and then moving on to begin her life with her soulmate Evert Johnson who farmed in the Chatfield area. Together they farmed and had a good life for 54 years. Fjola enjoyed her role as homemaker, mother, grandmother, farmers wife, and she always had a cup of coffee and a slice of homemade bread for anyone who came to her kitchen. From milking cows, tramping the stacks, raking hay, working in her large garden's and picking berries, mother's life was complete and up until the last month, she still wanted to work, work, work. Survived by her son Kris (Sylvia), grandchildren Kristjan, Cody (Vienna), Dawn and Cindy, son Jim (Irene) Jaime, Matt, Corri, Toni Lynn and Carmen, beloved son Ivan, daughter Lenore, grandchildren Dwayne and Annette, daughter Lois (Lorne) grandchildren Jennifer, Jeremy (Stephanie). Also survived by her sister Johanna, sister-in-law Dorothy, son-in-law Guy Proulx. Fjola will be fondly remembered by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and anyone who had the opportunity to get to know her. She was predeceased by her common law husband Evert, her parents Barney and Gudny, brothers Leo and Jonas and sisters, Erikka, Lilja and Roz, and her son-in-law Luke Proulx. Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Proulx, Dwayne Proulx, Kristjan Fjeldsted, Cody Fjeldsted, Lori Halldorson, Lloyd Johnson and Leo Johnson. Honourary Pallbearers will be Annette Proulx, Jennifer Proulx, Toni Lynn Fjeldsted Helbig, Jaime Fjeldsted. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, January 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lundar Legion Hall, Lundar Manitoba, with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Burial will take place at the Otto Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. Kerr Graham and all the Health Care Workers and Staff that took such great care of our mother (Teulon Hospital, Tudor House and Goodwin Lodge), also the Home Care workers that looked after mom at her home up until her PCH admission.
