THOMAS NICHOLAS NOSTEDT (published on January 10, 2009)

THOMAS NICHOLAS NOSTEDT April 29, 1917 - January 6, 2009 Tom passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Deer Lodge Center at the age of 91. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Mabel Wray Marks, his six children, Alan (Aline), Louise (David), Jim (Aline), Elizabeth (Thomas), Bill (Brenda), Chuck, his grandchildren, Cory, Danielle, Jonathan, Libby, Chris, Jeremy, Melanie (Chris), Michelle (Tyler), Stephanie, Martina, Scott, Tony (Jolene), Jennifer (Kyle), and his great-grandchildren, Nicolai, Angelina and Cameron. He is predeceased by his first wife Victoria Hack, his parents, John and Eva, his brother Jack (Lila) and his sisters Mary (Gerald) and Beth (Rex). Tom was born in Quinton, SK, and moved to Treherne, MB in his teens. He enlisted in the RCAF and upon his return from serving in the Second World War, he married Vicky. They were married for 51 years and raised six children together. He had several businesses including Nostedt Gift Shoppe in partnership with his brother Jack, a picture framing business and a stained glass business. He was also a member of the Treherne volunteer fire and ambulance service. Tom enjoyed music and dancing. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, his devoted service to his family, community and his country. Tom enjoyed a second marriage to Mabel (Wray) Marks with whom he spent the last seven years. They lived in Portage la Prairie and then in Winnipeg. The family would like to thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre for their care and compassion. Funeral services will be held at the Treherne United Church on Sunday, January 11 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jim Haupt officiating. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service. A family interment at Woodlands Cemetery will take place after the luncheon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Treherne United Church.
