DONAT SABOT (published on January 10, 2009)

DONAT SABOT It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donat Sabot on Thursday, January 8, 2009, after a brief illness, at the age of 77 (December 15, 1931). Donat is survived by Lina, his wife of 56 years and their three children: Roger, Louise (Maurice) Chartier and Suzanne (Darren) Feyereisen. He was predeceased by parents, Léopold and Rosa (née Vandal), infant sister Lina, brother George and wife Evéline, many aunts and uncles and his in-laws: Stanislas and Georgiana Phaneuf, Ulysses Phaneuf, Roméo and Aurise Phaneuf, Jimmy Dumaine, Armand Nolin, Emile Laurin, Eugène Saindon and Marcel Nault. Donat also leaves to mourn his sister: Evéline Saindon, Angéline known as Toutoune Laurin, Irène (Frankie) Baron, Jeannette Nault, Juliette (Sally) Sabot, brother Marcel (Monique) Sabot, his sisters-in-law: Lucienne Dumaine, Irma Nolin and Marg Phaneuf, two surviving aunts: Bernadette (Arthur) Boivin, Lynn (Jean) Sabot and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The happiest day of his life was August 11, 1951, the day he married Lina Phaneuf. Dedicated husband and father, Donat raised his family working as a logger, truck driver, barber and school bus driver. Before and since his early retirement, Dad was a devoted caregiver to the love of his life, our Mom. The family would like to express their gratitude to Soeurs Rioux and Forest for their kindness and support, to Dr. Lemoine and the nurses and other staff at Ste. Anne Hospital for their excellent care. A memorial service will be held at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons on Tuesday, January 13 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may send donations to the MS Society or their favourite charity.
