PEARL FREDERICK (published on January 16, 2009)
PEARL FREDERICK It is with profound sorrow we announce the passing of our mother Georgina Pearl (nee Roy) Frederick, on Monday, January 12, 2009, in Pine Falls, Manitoba. She is survived by her husband of 61 years Carl (Charlie) Herman Frederick and four of their five children, Andrea Bodkin (Gerry), Shelly Tardiff (Joe), Colleen Peterson (Dane) and Diana Lynn Houston (Edgar). She is predeceased by her parents, Pearl Georgina and James Roy; her son Cameron Roy Frederick; her sister Margaret Rose Roy and her son-in-law Donald Eric Bodkin. She will be greatly missed by her 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grand- children and one great-great-grandchild. Pearl was born on January 9, 1928 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She spent her early years as a girl in Winnipeg prior to moving with her family to Pine Falls, Manitoba. She worked for Abitibi Paper and then 25 years for the Hudson Bay Company prior to retiring. Pearl and Charlie enjoyed travelling by car across Canada and did so many times while visiting their children and getting in many rounds of golf! She enjoyed shopping, reading, bingo and generally socializing. Pearl was also an active member of the Coronation Rebekah Lodge for many years. In particular she was a font of family folklore. You just had to sit down with her and one of the many old family photo albums and you were immediately immersed in the family history. We will greatly miss those stories! An informal gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 17 at the Manitou Lodge between 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, a donation in her memory, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Interment to follow at a later date. |
