JOHN PAUL POLUSNY (published on January 17, 2009)

JOHN PAUL POLUSNY Is is with sadness that we announce that John passed away peacefully on January 12, 2009 at the age of 85 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Cook's Creek, Manitoba, John grew up on the family farm, later moving to Winnipeg where he married, and raised his family. John was predeceased by his loving wife Helen in 1991. John will be lovingly remembered by his son Paul, daughter-in-law Joanne Hampson; daughter Charline, son-in-law Mark Hooper and daughter Margaret, son-in-law Dennis Matthews. John will also be remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will miss his quick wit, laughter, and practical jokes. John loved the outdoors spending many summers with his family in Duck Mountains. His longtime interest in butterflies garnered him recognition in Manitoba for his extensive collection of both local and rare species. Due to his continuous interest in insects he became a beekeeper, starting as a hobby and later growing into full time business, Northern Queen Apiaries. A reception will be held on Friday, January 23, 2009 at Green Acres Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to give family and friends time together to reminisce and share stories of John. In accordance with John's wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family internment. The family would like to express their great appreciation to the wonderful and compassionate care Dad received at St. Norbert Care Home. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in John's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St. Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4G2.
