SARAH WEISS (published on January 17, 2009)

SARAH WEISS 1918 - 2008 Work on earth has ended A well earned rest is won . It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of our dear mother, Sarah, on December 23, 2008. She was predeceased by Sam in 1996, her beloved husband of over 50 years; her parents, Alex and Bayla Shniderman; sister, Anne Lazare and brother, Abe Shniderman. Surviving are her children Lorne (Paulette), Roberta and adoring and adored grandchildren Richard, Allison and Sean. Sarah's life was devoted to caring for others. As a young woman she cared for and nursed her mother. Later she showed that same special loving spirit to Sam as his need for care increased later in life. Always her love for her children and later her grandchildren was the most important thing to her. Family came first and she unselfishly put her own needs and desires aside to provide for her family. Sarah loved to attend the Stay Young Group at the Rady Centre in her later years and to knit hats and mittens for Jewish Child and Family Services. She desperately missed those activities in her final months. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff on the 5th floor, North and South, at the Victoria Hospital, especially Deborah and Lynn, for the most respectful and gracious way that they treated Mom while she was hospitalized. Funeral services were held at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on December 24, 2008 with Rabbi Larry Pinsker officiating and interment took place at the B'nai Abraham Cemetery. Pall bearers were Richard Weiss, Sean Seywright, Dr. Ted Lyons, The Honorable Joe Hershfield, Bill Weissmann and Dr. Eric Ellis. Thank you to all for your kind and generous offerings of condolences.
