| KATHERINE SHOSTAK On Sunday, January 18, 2009, our Mom, Grandma, Baba, PraBaba, Katherine Shostak passed away in her sleep at home in Calgary, AB. Her inner strength, confidence and love of life influenced all who knew her. Katherine was born in the village of Schtorovechi, Ukraine on November 8, 1913. At the age of sixteen, she immigrated directly to Winnipeg to seek a better life. She eventually met her husband Michael, married and raised three children. They were life partners celebrating 50 years together. Katherine's memory will be forever treasured by her children, Joyce (Gerry-deceased) Ballendine of Calgary, Leonard (Jo) Shostak of Edmonton, Ken (Elaine) Shostak of Winnipeg; her six grandchildren, Jo-Anne (Ken) King, Derek (Bella) Ballendine, Michael (Tanya) Shostak, Jane (Jason) Shenkarek, Kristian (Kara) Shostak, Travis (Melissa) Shostak and six great-grandchildren Jeremy and Mali King, Daniel Ballendine, Cole Shenkarek, Owen Shostak and Ella Shostak. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 23, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons, Len Shostak, Ken Shostak, Derek Ballendine, Michael Shostak, Kristian Shostak and Travis Shostak. Flowers graciously declined.
