GEORGE JOSEPH GROINUS On Wednesday, January 14, 2009 passed away peacefully at Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank, Manitoba. Left to cherish the memory of our loving Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandfather are; children, Elizabeth (Lado) Chongva, Edward (Iris) Groinus, Clara (Frank) Chongva, Marieanne (Gene) Mudry, Edmonton, AB, Rosemary LaRue, London, ON and Grace Page (Henry Bon). 18 grandchildren, Leanne (Rob), Rodney (Jill), Samantha (Dave), Greg (Muoi), Sheryl, Todd (Chantal), Trevor, Jayme (Bonnie), Loralie (Neil), Matthew, Ryan, Jenessa, Nolan, Tracy (Corey), Janelle, Lisa, Beth (Rob), Jill (Duane); 18 great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Chelsea, Broderic, MacKenzie, Ty, Kaitlyn, Kristyn, Davis, Joshua, Jorgia, Jaiden, Jenna, Stephanie, Alyssa, Kirsten, Faith, Page, Jacob; sisters-in-law, Susan Wazney and Eva Groinus, numerous nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Genevieve (2001); son-in-law Gary LaRue (2008); his father Joseph Groinus; mother Elizabeth (Schreyer) Groinus Rattai; brothers, Anton, John, Arthur, Stanley; and sisters, Frances and Leona. George was born in Ladywood, MB on March 12, 1914. On June 8, 1941, he married Genevieve Picknicki in Brightstone, MB. They began their married life in Ladywood and moved to Prairie Grove in 1947, where together they operated a dairy farm and raised their family. After many years of hard work, they retired and found various activities to keep them busy. They enjoyed going to The Club (Prendergast Centre), playing cards, making perogies, dancing and travelling. The family wishes to sincerely thank all the staff at Kin Place who cared for him with love and compassion. Funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 710 Roanoke Street, Transcona, MB will be celebrated on Saturday, January 24 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Robb McDougall presiding. Viewing will be one half hour before service. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
